3D TV: This Week
3D is literally everywhere. You can’t ruddy turn for bumping into things in 3D. This wasn’t always the case. A few years back, you’d have a bit of a trek to watch a film in 3D. IMAX cinemas where sparsely dotted around and were pretty pricey. Now even your local fleapit cinema is doling out the “3D Spex”, at a few quid a pop, to Mark Kermode’s chagrin.
And now TV is getting in on the act. This week is Channel 4’s “3D Week” (Monday 16th November – Sunday 22nd November) and will be beaming special broadcasts right into your tellybox in the corner.
Don’t worry, you don’t need any fancypants equipment either, think more 80s cereal packets than IMAX technology. Just grab a pair of the special glasses, available free from Sainsbury’s (find your nearest store here) and preferably watch on a digital TV (Freeview etc.) although it will still work on good ol’ analogue, just not as well.
Below are the programs that Channel 4 are showing in 3D.
Monday 16 November, 9pm – The Queen in 3D
Monday 16 November, 10pm – Derren Brown in 3D
Wednesday 18 November, 12.40am - Flesh for Frankenstein
Friday 20 November, 10pm - Friday the 13th Part III in 3D
Saturday 21 November, 9.20pm - The Greatest Ever 3D Moments
Sunday 22 November, 3pm - Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert
If that doesn’t whet your appetite for 3DTV, then Sky is launching a dedicated 3DTV service next year.
It’s the future… today!
