Futuristic Fitzalan
Young people and staff at Fitzalan High School in Leckwith are at the forefront of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) developments having picked up the prestigious ICT Mark from Becta.
Following an extensive external assessment, Fitzalan has been awarded the standard by Becta, the government-funded body responsible for promoting the use of ICT in Britain’s schools and colleges.
The award recognises the school’s success in developing the strategic use of ICT in both administration and across the curriculum.
Executive Member for Education and Lifelong Learning, Cllr Freda Salway, said: “Many congratulations go to all at Fitzalan High School who have worked hard to receive this accolade. It’s wonderful to see the school reaching such a high standard in the use of technology which will enhance the teaching and learning at the school.”
Head of ICT at Fitzalan, Bryan James, said: “The investment in technology and ICT capability has paid off and is impacting on rising standards in all subjects. This award demonstrates a willingness to take on board new ideas and adapt to a rapidly changing educational environment.”
Head teacher Catherine Bradshaw said: “We are delighted to be awarded the ICT Mark. It recognises our positive approach to ICT and the benefits it brings to our children. We believe that ICT can be used in every aspect of learning and that it is essential our children are equipped for the modern world.”
