New Tron Legacy Trailer
Almost two months ago I posted about Tron Legacy and how it was the real 3D film of the year, had a few digs at Avatar (three cheers for The Hurt Locker) and generally working myself up into a tizzy.
Well lo and behold Disney have released another Tron Legacy trailer and got me all weak at the knees again.
More conventional and less iconic than the first trailer, though thankfully without that gravelly voiced man going “IN A WORLD OF TECHNOLOGY, ONE MAN…” it does offer some tantalising glimpses of the new Recognizers, some crazy Tron car and frantic Identity Disk battles.
We also get to hear the first strains of Daft Punk’s soundtrack synched with the film (their Tron Legacy Theme has been doing the rounds on the blogosphere). The use of pioneering electronic music is central to the Tron franchise, with Wendy Carlos composing the score for the original Tron. Yet as with seemingly everything currently, Journey also appear for no apparent reason. As does Michael Sheen (does he have any time off?).
I am relatively snobby when it comes to films, but not with Tron. It has a curious hold over me, I let go of my prejudices unlike with any other franchise. I’m happy to put up with a sloppy script and predictable plot just to witness the spectacle. And boy, what a spectacle it’s shaping up to be.
Tron Legacy is due for release on December 17th.
