Preview: CND Cymru Benefit - People In Planes
The charity CND Cymru are holding a benefit on August 14th 2010 in order to raise funds and awareness for themselves. CND stands for ‘Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament’ and according to their website they are a group that 'work to rid Britain and the world of all weapons of mass destruction, for peace and human and environmental justice’. The furor surrounding nuclear weapons is topical at the moment with the inquiry into the legality of the Iraq war ongoing this week.
World politics aside, the benefit is being held at The Coal Exchange, Cardiff Bay. Indie rock band People in Planes are headlining with their melodic and well-balanced anthems. Solo singers Caroline Aiken, Dave Sutherland and Nigel Mazlyn Jones are all supporting with their differing variations of folk music, while NME-tipped band Don't Tread On Spiders will also be performing. Weird Naked Indian, a band that Nation Radio have described as an 'acoustic rock duo with a unique style and big sound' will be doing their thing, along with the blues/rock/soul/funk blenders The Hideaway Trio.
Entry is a meagre £10 (£9 concessions), a complete bargain for seven different acts. Go along, support a green and political cause and dance at the recently reopened Coal Exchange to some lovely local sounds.
Tickets can be bought from G.M Music:
