Preview: The School
How do you like your music served?
Do you like it a wee bit twee around the edges? How about a dash of Phil Spector essence? The wall of sound sonic adventurism rather than the gun-toting second degree murder side of things.
Do you like it locally produced? Well it is important to keep those music miles to a minimum isn't it?
If a pinch of Belle & Sebastian spruces up your audio diet, then Buffalo this Thursday should be a feast for your ears.
The School, Cardiff’s very own female fronted seven-piece headline an evening of bands who’d probably opt for C86 over F16 or 20Q any day.
With a number of live sessions across BBC Radio, a spot on the trailer for the new series of Kingdom on ITV1 as well as a South Korean TV advert for a fridge and a single of the week accolade from the Breakfast Show on BBC 6Music, The School already possess an interesting if slightly bonkers CV.
Add in an appearance on last year’s influential and highly respected Rough Trade Counter Culture 08 compilation and the fact they’re signed to the Spanish label Elefant Records and the result is that The School could be on the verge of a breakthrough.
And all before their debut album is released this October.
Also on the bill are Moofish Catfish, Colorama and Them Squirrels.
