Respect. As a young person how would you define the word? Do you receive it in your day-to-day life? Who do you give respect to?
These are just some of the questions a landmark Cardiff Council consultation is hoping to answer with thousands of young people across the city being given the chance to take part.
The aim is to find out exactly what you think respect is and where you feel that kind of recognition is lacking. That could relate to family, school, police, community or the media.
The consultation also looks to identify any gender differences linked to the term and how the media’s representation of youth culture makes you feel.
The consultation forms part of the Cardiff Children And Young Peoples’ Plan. One of the key drivers behind this relates to children’s rights to be respected and heard in the decision making process.
Executive Member for Communities Cllr Judith Woodman says, "This study is key to better understanding the relationship between society and our young people.
"Children and teenagers have every right to hold a position of importance within our communities and I hope as many schools as possible will take part.
"I look forward to seeing the results of this study and the future developments that should come from it".
