Omega66 are a two-piece band from Cardiff and Nools and High Horses, their second album, was given to me to be reviewed ahead of its official release on April 30th.

There were some songs on that album that especially stood out to me, specifically, Aqueous Waltz and Celebrity Burn Out. The vocals are all wonderful (especially those of Sally Thomas and Sabrina Mahi), however, Krik, the band founder, should not pursue a career in rapping.

Although every track on the album was unique, and they all sounded good, they were extremely repetitive, and they felt a little more like background music rather than actual songs. If you've ever seen the film, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, the music sounded like what I'd expect to be the backing music after Tony has redecorated their show. It's still a great album to have, and well worth a listen, particularly if you're into electronic music.

I think this style of music is on the rise, and I'm sure that if Omega66 become famous, this album will be remembered as one of the first albums of its style. The only worry I have is that they feel more like a collaborative project than a band of their own. Either way, this group has great potential. They're definitely one to watch out for.

To see them for yourself (and grab the album a day early), Omega66 are doing an album launch in The Promised Land, Windsor Place this Friday (April 29th).

I love the tracks I have heard so far from this album it's one of the best albums I have heared locally for a long time. It's very varied and is dance music as well as good for listened to..plus it's funky as heck!

I'm guessing you dont quite understand this type of music from your review though? I'm going to the launch on Friday at the Promised land, cant wait! come and see them live, last time I saw them in the Small Nations festival them they were great live, a real party vibe on stage and some cracking tunes.
