Theatre Full Of Lov-Elys
If you’re one of the ooooh three people who look at our events calendar, you’ll have noticed that a play called It’s Complicated is running all week in various parts of west Cardiff.
It’s a unique composition as it combines students from Glyn Derw High School and folks from Age Concern’s ‘Healthy, Wealthy and Wise’ group. I know! Young people and old people working together instead of moaning about each other! This could catch on…
They come together under the pun-tastic name of The Lov-Elys, as they want to help make Ely (and Caerau) err… lovely, through the medium of theatre.
Both groups identified anti-social behaviour as a great bugbear for both groups and the play is being staged as away of getting people both young and old to talk to each other and encourage positive dialogue on how to tackle this problem and help them get on better generally.
Young and old alike have had their preconceptions challenged by the project and found they have more in common than they thought. The Love-Elys hope audiences will look at their prejudices and resolve to come together and help improve the area they share.
Check out our listings for when and where the play is being staged. Don’t worry if you can’t make it to a live performance, the group will be recording and distributing the play on DVD too.
