Young Consumer Of The Year Competition 2010
A competition organised by Cardiff Trading Standards Service will be held at City Hall on Wednesday 10th February for teams of young people from Cardiff secondary schools to compete for the right to represent Cardiff at the Welsh Regional Final of the Young Consumer of the Year Competition 2010.
A number of teams from secondary schools across the city will be competing for the title of Cardiff Young Consumers of the Year by taking part in a ‘Consumer Challenge quiz’.
The quiz winners will progress to the final which will be held in Llandrindod Wells in March. The Welsh winners then progress to the UK final in June which will be held in Edinburgh.
In addition to this event, Trading Standards will be holding a round of the Consumer Challenge Quiz for Special Needs Schools. Woodlands School from Cardiff and Ysgol Hen Felin from Rhondda Cynon Taf will take part in a competition to win a place at the national competition, also at Edinburgh in June.
The purpose of the competition is to raise awareness in young people of consumer issues, including money and finance, consumer rights, food and health related matters and general topical knowledge which gives them the tools they need to become the consumers of the future.
