For my best friend's birthday we escaped the quiet surroundings of Cwmbran and explored our wonderful capital of Cardiff for cocktails, food and the Vintage Pretty Handmade & Vintage Market!

After missing our first train we finally arrived in Cardiff a little later than expected so we skipped up St. Mary's Street towards 10 Feet Tall in the hope to get to the Vintage Pretty fair and be one of the first ten people through the doors and get ourselves a goodie bag.

As we arrived at the venue we walked up the stairs to the room, drenched in a red glow as the bright daylight poured through the red film covered windows. We were greeted with gorgeous fudgey chocolate cakes and fortunately there were two goodie bags left which the three of us agreed to divide up over lunch.

My eyes struggled to focus on just one stall as so many pretty things lay before me. Jewellery, t-shirts, brooches, magnets, monsters, soaps, gifts and nails adorned all the surfaces in view.

What I adored most about everything on offer is that everything on offer is lovingly handmade and inspired by everything from times gone by, gothic visions, nature and favourite retro games, sweets and childhood favourites such as Lego!

I always love looking at unique items like those on offer, they mean so much more than items that are sometimes mass produced with much less thought. I also experience a little bit of jealousy, my head can fill with crafty ideas but I am pretty useless when it comes to making, painting or drawing.

On my first lap, my eyes met those of a fluffy monster who I have since given a loving home. I wanted everything in sight, but after a few more laps to weigh up what really sucked me in, I settled for a few special purchases including a necklace, a brooch, a ring and a couple of bracelets including one fashioned from flumps! I even have plans to buy some more things that I didn't quite have space for in my bag.

Finally I had my nails done, each finger a different design: clouds in the sky, roses, polka dots, leopard print and finally a cute little heart. We then sat and reviewed our goodie bags. Between our two bags we had some retro sweets (Love Hearts, Parma Violets, and lolly pops), brooches, numerous pairs of earrings, notecards, some rings and some necklaces which we were very chuffed with to say the least! We divided everything up and I nabbed myself some very cute buttons earrings.

So all-in-all it was a very amazing day out, with free entry nonetheless! The goodie bags were stuffed to the brim and contained much more than we were expecting along with some discount vouchers. Even without the treats, the event was magnificent... just being exposed to such wonderful creations was a pleasure and I got to meet some of the nicest people who I hope to meet again at future Vintage Pretty fairs in the future! Even the two boys we dragged along made a purchase or two and enjoyed looking around.

I would thoroughly recommend going along to one in the future, just to enjoy the friendly and talented atmosphere that local individuals have to offer and maybe even treat yourself or someone you love to something unique and personal for Christmas, a birthday or even just because.
