What’s that coming over the hill, is it a monster? Or Michael Chopra?

Well over the next couple of days it could easily be the former (the latter was here a couple of weeks ago with Ipswich Town) as it is Halloween or Hallowe’en depending on how pretentious you’re feeling.

Now we know all you Sprouters are responsible young people, but we also know that Halloween can be the perfect time for pranks, tomfoolery and general mischief. Yet what may be a bit of harmless fun for you and your friends can be quite distressful for others. It can also be a dangerous time of year for you and your friends.

This is why all the different emergency services authorities in Wales have come together for the B.A.N.G. campaign. B.A.N.G. which stands for Be A Nice Guy, have loads of advice on their Facebook Fan Page on how to stay safe while having a good time and how not to unintentionally annoy other people. There’s links to printable posters (say if you don’t want to be disturbed on Monday) and they’re even running a pumpkin carving competition!

Also worth a nosey is the link that B.A.N.G. posted to Essex Police’s 2Smart Halloween site which has some cool bits and bobs and is where the video above comes from.

I hope I’m not being too preachy but Halloween can get bit a hairy and it doesn’t need to; we can all have a great and spooky time without behaving anti-socially.

Oh and before I go here’s a link I found the other day; try not to be a racist when you’re picking a costume.

I think it's great that there's work being done on this, last year my cello teacher's house got egged on Halloween. Luckily, no damage was done, but it took an awful lot of work to clean up, and it was quite distressing for him and his wife.

Got something to say?
