Celebrity Big Bother?
This Sunday sees the last ever Celebrity Big Brother hit our screens on Channel 4. Does anyone care? Do you?
Once the behemoth of TV schedules, Big Brother was forever tarnished by the racism row involving the "peoples’ princess" Jade Goody and Shilpa Shetty of two series ago. Audience figures were on a consistent slide before then, but have reached terminal lows since the scandal.
Yet, I’m still kind of piqued by it, at least to the extent of who’s entering. We definitely know it’s not going to be Boy George as the probation service have barred him from doing it. There are strong rumours suggesting Pamela Anderson will be one of the contestants, what with her panto work this Christmas, Borat and that weird reality show with the fella from Eastenders, all suggesting that she’s game for anything. Another rumour is MC Hammer. Yeah now you’re interested... HAMMER TIME!
The house this year is based around the theme of Dante’s Inferno, all velvet and gothic. It has been described by one visitor as "...a tart’s boudoir". But who cares, it’s the fighting and humiliation people tune in for, not the décor.
