Celtic Learners Network
Are you interested in Vampires, myth and history? Would you like to find out more about the Sleeveface photography phenomenon?
Well last thursday, the Celtic Learners Network had their official launch in Cardiff. It's a new organisation that provides a wide range of Humanities courses in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Set up by three experienced and enthusiastic partners, we have a young, vibrant team of tutors that offer courses in a diverse range of subject areas such as creative writing, photography, art, history and literature.
Our motto is Education For All and we are passionate about delivering education to all members of the community. To create opportunities for those who may find it difficult to access Adult Learning we also have an outreach focus to our work, and we are in consultation with local charities to work together in producing imaginative, tailored learning programmes.
We provide workshops, lectures, day schools and weekly classes in two central venues: Cardiff Arts Institute (Park Place) and Barry Library. Our goal is to create a friendly relaxed environment for all students, whilst giving the widest possible choice of innovative and thought-provoking subjects. For example:
Vampires: Myth and History
These supernatural beings still fascinate, continuously popular in literature, TV (Angel, True Blood) and in film (Dracula, Twilight), we shall examine the history, myth and legends throughout the world of these bloodthirsty beings and how they translate to the screen. No previous knowledge assumed, all texts in translation.
