  • Fireworks. To celebrate New Year's and that.

It's clear to see that the death of 2011 is fast approaching, with 2012 just two weeks away.

And it seems that Admiral have sponsored New Year's Eve. Well, at least in Cardiff.

The car insurance firm are once again sponsoring the Free New Year's Eve Bus Service, as well as the Admiral Open Air Ice Rink, so you can skate in the New Year.

The city's traditional New Year's celebrations (codenamed "Calennig", I believe) will once again take place at the Civic Centre with Britain's top Madness tribute act Utter Madness. The event will be on from 8:30pm and will also feature Botown; a band which will take you on a playful trip from India to America with a lively fusion of Motown and Mumbai music. Utter Madness, the headliners, will take the stage an at 11:00pm and will be singing all the classic hits from the British pop/ska band.

Adding to the platter of live musical prowess that will be playing until 12:20am, there will be midnight fireworks to welcome in 2012.

No need to worry about travelling costs, as the Free New Year's Eve Bus Service will be running from 7:30pm until 2am, meaning that you lovely lot could get in and out of the city centre in a safe manner.

To celebrate Admiral's sponsoring of the now dubbed "bus of fun", members of their Cardiff News Business department, along with Cllr Nigel Howells, dressed up as the iconic 80's band at Cardiff's Winter Wonderland.

The Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells, had kind words in regards to Admiral, saying "I would like to thank Admiral for supporting a number of Christmas initiatives including the Free New Year’s Eve Bus Service, which will make a huge difference to families and party goers in Cardiff."

And according to the People Services Manager at Admiral, it was not that much of a surprise to see four of Admiral's workers become Madness for a few hours.

And remember, Cardiff's Winder Wonderland, along with a traditional fun fair and BT Infinity Star Ride, will be open until 1am.
