The 3DS is the latest handheld console to be released by the wonderful Nintendo. On the 24th of March 2011, alongside nintendogs + cats, Pilotwings Resort, Super Street Fighter IV 3D and several others, gaming took on a whole new dimension. How does it work? It's best explained in tech jargon!

The 3DS is a handheld entertainment device with two screens, a touch sensitive lower screen, and the larger, unique optical retina upper screen that projects what would be seen with the left eye into the right eye and vice versa to create the illusion of depth, distance and objects coming out of the screen itself when the 3D effect is in use. When playing an ordinary DS game, there will be black bars on the side of the top screen as the outer portion of the screen is not in use.

Now onto the statistics! Since it doesn't have wheels, wings, treads or legs, (unfortunately) agility and speed don't count.

Design: Available in aqua blue, cosmos black, ice white, misty pink, inferno red and limited edition Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time gold and black, you're not restricted on colours - 9/10

Durability: When attempting to teach my dad how to play Mario Kart 7, he gave the Circle Pad a heck load of a wrestle whilst believing that shaking the 3DS frantically would stop Wario crashing into the walls of Toad Circuit... and it came out fine! (The 3DS, not my dad's driving method) - 9/10

Cost: At £130 each, this is quite a wallet bruiser, but worth every penny - 8/10

Overall: So the scores on the doors for the Nintendo3DS are a whopping 26/30. I recommend getting it with Ocarina of Time, Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7.

For next time, do you want me to review:

A: A Dalek
B: A first person duck shoot-em up or
C: An eyeball in a tank
