Get Your Skates On
Avid skateboarder/ rollerblader/ BMXer? Today brings the opening of Cardiff's first ever concrete skatepark, FREE for your use! The Plaza Skate Park, situated in the Barrage at Cardiff Bay, has been designed replicating features from famous skating locations around the world.
The park has been created by well-respected company Gravity and has followed the general consensus from Cardiff skateboarders that a plaza-style design was what was needed for the skating community.
It is opening to the public on Wednesday the 28th July 2010, leaving plenty of the summer holidays left to enjoy it thoroughly. It can be used by anyone, from any age group and location. And don't forget, it's completely and entirely free!

While they've put it in an undoubtedly picturesque place, it's nowhere near any houses or bus stops or where young people congregate. Also if you're a young person coming from the Penarth side of the barrage, then you'd have to be accompanied by an adult, as according to the signs “Children must be accompanied at all times” when crossing the lever-bridge.
The facility looks great but they've put it in a pretty dumb place. Was there nowhere closer to town that they could have put it?
Thanks for the heads up on when it's opening though.
