Jeffrey Lewis
WORDS: Yasmin Begum (Sprout Editorial Group)
This April sees the return of highly acclaimed New York-based Jeffrey Lewis And The Junkyard.
It's a side product of the popular anti-folk musician/comic book artist, famous for penning songs with titles such as The Last Time I Did Acid I Went Insane and the hiliariously penned A Complete History of Jeff's Sexual Conquests.
He's also recorded songs with the cult-indie anti-folk songstress Kimya Dason, one half of the now-defunct Modly Peaches. Their fifth album - titled 'Em Are I - is out on Monday and?features the usual suspects of Mr. Lewis, David Buchamp on drums and his brother Jack Lewis on bass.
Jeffrey Lewis And The Junkyard have embarked on a UK tour and their Cardiff date is one of their last dates, playing at Clwb Ifor Bach on Sunday 26 April.
The Junkyard are drastically different to the usual acoustic mumblings of Lewis, but fans, do not despair! Word on the street is that Jeffrey Lewis will be picking up his battered acoustic guitar to do an in-store gig at our beloved Spillers, like he did on his last tour.
If you're into cute songs in the same vein of Herman Dune, Diane Cluck's intense self-anaysis and songs such as W'burg Will Oldham Horror, tickets are a tenner.
For more info, check out the Clwb website. No idea about the age restrictions, probably over 18s!
