Know Your Norovirus
Cardiff Council’s Health Improvement Team have developed a short film to help raise awareness of the norovirus, an infectious disease often experienced during the winter months.
The film provides some useful information on cleaning and disinfection, which is invaluable in controlling the spread of disease, especially in schools and care homes. The norovirus is highly contagious and it can cause vomiting and diarrhoea, and it is also the leading cause of gastroenteritis in the UK for people of all ages.
People tend to associate winter illnesses with the elderly and the infirm, or with the flu, but this virus can affect anyone and because it is so contagious it can spread very easily. Deputy Leader of Cardiff Council, Councillor Judith Woodman, said: “We can't be too careful about limiting the spread of norovirus. That is why it is so important that we raise awareness and help reduce the risk.”
The film is available in English and in Welsh, otherwise you can contact the Health Team on 029 2087 1161.
