Matt Smith Saves Christmas!
Matt Smith: ordinary 28-year-old football player, or galaxy saving Time Lord?
Either way, he was in Cardiff last night as he raised his sonic screwdriver and thwarted the evil Daleks and Cybermen (oddly not present) who had stopped the Christmas lights from turning on. I went with a few of my new Uni friends to witness the sexy reincarnation of the last remaining Time Lord talk about Cardiff and how completely awesome it is.
For those of you who are not aware of the phenomena that is Doctor Who… where the hell have you been?? This show has been running since 1962 and has had ten other British legends play the renowned Gallifrey-born Time Lord prior to Matt. What do you mean you’ve never heard of Gallifrey? Well, if you need an education, it’s in the constellation of Kasterborous and is located at galactic coordinates ten-zero-eleven-zero-zero by zero-two from galactic zero centre. See, simples.
Now that you’ve got some background information, back to my original point: Matt was joined by Karen Gillan (who plays Amy “Amelia” Pond) and Arthur Darvill (who plays Amy’s on-screen husband Rory). Although it was very cold, and ignorant parents cruelly lifted their three-year old sons who will obviously remember this and isn’t taking away from the sights of the 7 teenagers who should really be completing their essay instead of going to see and then writing about Matt Smith (even if he is super-sexy).
Another thing that annoyed the hell outta me was people who raised their cameras to try and capture the moment forever. Not only does it block the view of everyone behind them, but it’s also for nothing as when they get back, all they’ll find is a blurring of lights accompanied by a huge screaming of audience members (myself included). So thanks for ruining everyone’s view at absolutely no benefit to yourself.
But all my worries soon faded away as the brilliant Matt started talking about the awesomeness of Cardiff and how he regards it as a second home for himself and the Dr Who cast (somewhat overdoing it here but oh well, I don’t care. It’s Matt.) He then went onto say that they are currently filming here in Cardiff, so keep your eyes open.
Karen, who looked absolutely amazing (no surprises there) talked about the new series and how the monsters they’ll be facing are the best yet and how she is regarded as he feistiest companion so far. Arthur was asked why everyone likes the Doctor and Amy, but loves Rory, to which his answer was a simple “Isn’t that the way it should be?”
Prior to the cast of Doctor Who were Bob the Builder (Oh Joy) and a soul band called Supernatural who sang Christmas Carols and while my friends made the traditional remarks of “Oh for Christ’s sake, it’s only November” and “It’s too early for Christmas carols” I revelled in singing Santa Claus is Coming to Town. Genius song.
So, overall it was a great night, and even though it nearly killed us to get in front of the other 15,000 people who were there, we eventually settled for ‘nearly there’. It was a fab night and if you haven’t watched Doctor Who before…. Get the box set and watch them all…. NOW!

Some of the worst interviewing I've ever heard!! Such as- "Arthur, you play Rory- can I call you Rory?" "Um. No!"
and on hearing that Arthur had visited the Cheese Festival in the summer-
"Really? So do you like cheese?" Wally.

Yeah, Matt Smith is great, as are the other two, I was only laughing at the daft questions that Jason Mahommed was asking them!
