Music Doesn't Age

  • It's like a metaphor something yeah?

How many of you love songs that remind you of a time and place? A holiday, a school trip, a party, or just a random period of time, no matter whether they're old or new, from last year or last week?

I hate that when a song has been out for a few months and is no longer "in the charts", it is considered old. No matter how old it is, people should still be allowed to enjoy it! Really good songs, are timeless, and can be enjoyed, even ten years later. They may be representative of that particular era, but if they are really good, then that shouldn't matter.

I quite like Eighties songs, some really old songs. They had the first pick of originality, whereas many artists nowadays all sound the same, and are so boring. Before, there was a lot less voice editing, so singers and groups who sounded good on CD, would probably sound good live as well. They had original lyrics, which meant something to them, not boring, unimaginative sentences, which can't be understood as they rap them so fast.

The singers and bands I like to listen to the most, are the original, talented ones, such as Katie Melua, whose lyrics are always interesting and different. Even Taylor Swift, although always writing about similar things, actually cares about her music, is talented, is not just singing to get a hit and doesn't have her voice edited on disk.

I once asked someone to send me a song, on my phone. They said "What? That song's really old!" At the time, it had only been out for a few months. I felt like saying to them "No it's not!" but anyway, so what if it is?

Yes people do get bored of some songs, particularly if they are overplayed on the radio, but some songs you never grow tired of, and still enjoy them.
I quite like, now and then, listening to songs which I liked when I was about 5, because they remind me of the joys of having so few worries, and not being old enough to have problems. If I haven't listened to them in ages, I listen to songs from a year or two ago, if I really liked them, just to remember the times when it was played all the time.

Music means a lot to me. I am quite musical myself, and love singing. And the good songs, are the ones that make me want to sing.
So what songs make everyone else feel something? Does it give you a memory, remind you of a time and place? Because those are the ones that really stick with you, forever.
