No Borders South Wales are a collective group of like-minded people who believe in freedom of movement. They have been together since 2005 and take direct action on migration and border control. They work on a non-hierarchical, anti-authoritarian basis using consensus decision making. Since their birth they have helped countless people to stay in Cardiff by setting up anti-deportation campaigns, doing talks, information days, benefit gigs, workshops and film showings to raise awareness of their cause.

This autumn the folks from No Borders will be hosting a two-day punk rock, ska and folk festival on Fri 3 and Sat 4 Oct at TJ's in Newport. All profits raised from the festival will go toward No Borders South Wales, and some of the bands already confirmed to play the Friday include local folk-punk legends KilnAboy, the best in dubby ska punk from London's Inner Terrestrials (highly recommended, check out their version of Guns Of Brixton by The Clash on their MySpace profile HERE) and Jesus Bruiser, by far the finest in crust-lite from Bristol.

Saturday's acts include Bristol-based self described 'militant/punk ska' Spanner (complete with trumpet player), Newport hardcore/crust punk from Rejected and not to mention Welsh punk rockers This System Kills. The Catch-It Kebabs headline, a 10-man strong reggae/ska punk band from Barnsley whose sound is reminiscent of bands such as Reel Big Fish, The Bouncing Souls, Less Than Jake and Rancid. These are just some of the confirmed acts, there are more yet to be confirmed for both days. On both days there will be stalls from South Wales Anarchists, Cardiff Prisoner Support and No Borders South Wales.

Tickets for this two-day gem of a fest are going to be around a tenner and tickets will be available sometime around next month; day tickets would be around seven quid. Full details of the acts and stalls will be on the No Borders South Wales website shortly.
Fantastic bands, affordable ticket price and it all goes to a good cause; in my opinion you would be a fool to miss this festival!
