Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day will be celebrated on Tuesday 10 February in an expected 65 countries across the globe.
As in previous years, the day’s celebrations will include local, national, and international events organised by a broad variety of organisations ranging from schools and youth clubs to industry, civil society and local and national government agencies.
Safer Internet day takes place each year in February to promote safer and more responsible use of internet and mobile phone technologies, especially amongst children and young people.
Since its first edition in 2004, participation in this event has been steadily growing, with an increase in general awareness, stronger involvement of relevant stakeholders in the field of internet safety and a high level of media interest.
In 2009 we are hoping for an even larger number of participants in the Safer Internet Day activities in an even greater number of organisations.
There are numerous possibilities for your participation, from displaying the Safer Internet Day banner on your website to organising an event of your own
Schools, organisations, government agencies, businesses and all those concerned in promoting responsible use of today’s information and communication tools are invited to join Safer Internet Day in Ireland, by contacting internetsafety@ncte.ie.
