On Thurs 23 Oct, theSprout paid a visit to Springwood Primary School. Here's what some of year six had to write about:

WHEN YOU LOSE SOMEONE :: "When you lose someone or something, you want to cry your heart out. When your dog has cancer you want to hold it tight and never let go, and you think 'I'm not going to let the vet put it down.' But then you think it's for the best. Otherwise you are just keeping your animal in pain; it is suffering so you have to tell yourself that it's got to be done." -- Megan Hadley

LLANEDEYRN NEWS :: "I like living in Llanedeyrn because there is stuff to do and there are local shops near where I live. But I don’t sometimes, because of the mess around by my street and some of Llanedeyrn can be scruffy. The other reason why I don’t like living in Llanedryn is that I go out with my friends, but when it gets cold there is nothing to do. So living in Llanedeyrn can get boring. Even though I said there is a lot to do, I also think that there is nothing to do sometimes. So that is why I do but I don’t like living in Llanedeyrn." -- Abby Cox

DAY OF RUGBY :: "I wake up and I have a shower, get dressed into my rugby kit, find my boots, play with the rugby ball and then brush my teeth. Then I get into the car and go to Rumney were I play for the under-11s. I play at quarter past 10 then finish at 11am, then go home eating chips from the club. I get home, watch a game of rugby, have another shower and go out." -- Daniel Griffiths

ABOUT CARDIFF :: "My name is Lucy. I'm ten-years-old. I like living in Cardiff because all of my friends live here, and there are lots of fun places to go. I go to Springwood Primary school and I like it here because everybody is friendly. The teachers aren’t too strict, but they are firm. Llanedeyrn is quite a nice place to live, but the bad thing about it is there are too many junkies, drunkies, tramps and chavs! There are lots of sport clubs you can go to on the weekends, like those at your local leisure centre. There are other types of clubs like a French club, or you could just stay at home watching telly, playing on the computer, reading a book or creating things and having fun!" -- Lucy Maton

DALEKS :: "I like Daleks because they’re cool and unstoppable. They are made of metal and have one eye. Their weapons are a blaster and a plunger. Daleks can also fly. What do you do if you see a Dalek? I would run before it blasts me or sucks my brains out, but if I throw a stone at its eye it will go blind, then I can kill it." -- Tomas (Tiny Tom)

ME AND MAMA :: "My friend Mama and I both paint and draw for fun. But our favourite thing to do is dancing. We also like to go to the park, draw and play together. Were are in class seven. We like reading. Mama likes read to Jamela’s Dress, I like to read Measles And The Doom Pit. We like to play games. We like singing. We like to go ice-skating. We like doing jobs. We don’t like being filmed. We like going to school. We like going shopping. We like cleaning. Mama likes to eat pizza. I like to eat cooked dinner. We like to play on the computer. We are best friends (BFL). We like Mr Williams. We like to cook with our mums. We like to eat cookies. We like to watch television. We like swimming. We love our family. We like to go to the library. We like to ride a bike. We are friends with everyone in the school. We like to wear make-up. We like our hair. Mama has four brothers and one sister. I have five brothers and five sisters. We are in year six. Mama and me live in Llanedeyrn, and Llanedeyrn is in Wales." -- Sophie Atkinson

FOOTBALL :: "I like football because it's fun and cool. Dudes play it mostly. Girls can sometimes play too but will probably prefer make-up and stuff like that. I have a big sister called Jade but she's smelly so I don't play with her. I love pizza and my hobby is eating. Thank you for reading." -- Ryan Evans

LLANEDEYRN IS BORING :: "It's boring because there’s way too many woods, which stops people from having Sky and Virgin. The parks are boring as well because the council have taken the swings down, and in the skate park the teenagers have taken over so no little ones go down there. Some people let their dogs in the park with then when it says 'No Dogs Allowed.' Also, parents think something might happen to their children if they go to the shop, because the woods is right next to the path. We're not allowed to play ball games in the street, we have to go to the field. The Internet breaks up sometimes. You might be looking for some pictures or research and the Internet stops when you're in the middle of reading something for your homework s and you lose what you were looking at." -- Megan Hadley

CARDIFF AND ME :: "My name is Rhian. I am 10 years old and I cheerlead for the Cardiff Cougar Allstars on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. I live in Pentwyn. In Springwood we sometimes have fights and quarreling, but we try not to. We have things like book week, Easter raffle, Christmas raffle, harvest celebration and loads more. In Cardiff it mostly rains. Sometimes it's sunny but at Christmas it never snows which is sad because it means we can't go out and play in it. We also have lots of places to go shopping and lots of places to go and eat. And that is everything, Cardiff and me." -- Rhian Pennington
