Super Learning Day
On Tuesday 25 November, theSprout visited Llanrumney High School, where Year 11 were taking part in a Super Learning Day.
We thought we'd ask some of them what they though of the event, which promotes revision techniques and stress avoidances. This is what they said:
"The best thing about Super Learning Day is that there's no lessons. We have had a person come in?and talk to us about different ways of revising which was pretty cool, and she was fun. Also, we were introduced to a new website -?this one -?which seems to be pretty cool so far. We also have the chance to catch up with our coursework, which is awesome!" -- Chantelle
"The best parts of?the day?was being introduced to a new website. That?and the fact that we didn't have any lessons! Also, the two-hour presentation was worth watching as now we know easier ways to revise ready for any exams on the way (mocks etc). We also have time to catch up on coursework and revise for exams." -- Rachel
"The start of the day was really fun, being able to learn different exam techniques, memory skills and how to access different parts of your brain's information. The other parts of the day were a bit more boring but it gave you a chance to catch up on any coursework, exam revision and any further notes needed. This gives all pupils the chance to catch up in any subject and relieve stress." -- James
"Our thoughts on Super Learning Day are mixed. Some of us found the experience really helpful, but others found it quite boring and useless. The things we did?included practising different techniques of revision that can help when doing our exams. We also learnt techniques we can use when we get into a stressful situation. As we found this a good experience, we would advise young adults like ourselves to take up any opportunities to learn these techniques." -- Charlotte and Jessica
"Today was fun and enjoyable. I learnt that you haven't got to revise through just reading and writing; there are many fun ways in which you can revise. I also thought today was a good way of catching up on any coursework that hasn't been completed." -- Chloe
"Today wasn't as good as the other Super Learning Days that we have had. I?think that it was okay, but got boring after forty minutes of listening. The only good thing?was that we were able to learn how to revise and catch up on some coursework. Apart from that?I can't wait until the day ends." -- Janine
