The Logo Place
This article was written in theSprout Zine Session on Thursday 27th October 2011 as part of an exercise in critical writing.
A new mini stall has popped up by Debenhams and Starbucks on the second floor in St David's 2. It is an attractive space and extremely eye-catching in bright red and cream. Before you approach you can already see the range of product samples on display from bags to t-shirts and phones to laptops.
They are a logo company; their company name on display has a blurred and bad quality picture of a dragon as a filler of the letters. This makes the company appear unprofessional, but don't judge a book by its cover!
The cabinet containing the phone prototypes is what seems to attract the most people; they don't sell phones but phone skins for the back and front of all types of technological gadgets.
The skins are done while you wait by the professional kit behind the counter which produce vibrant designs. You can add anything you can imagine to the back of your phone or t-shirt; they even do tote bags which with the recent 5p bag charge that has been enforced in Wales is a great idea!
All the designs are created by you on the cute little touch screen computers on the counter. You can select your product and position your image or text exactly where you want it.
The price range is also very reasonable with leaflets to take away with a full range of prices; these are however hand-folded which again is a small thing to make it out to be unprofessional. Even so the company will add to competition in St David's 2 and the Cardiff area in general.
I have never seen anything like the phone skins before and I'll soon be getting one myself.
So go and check this new spot out and let me know if you like it as much as I do!
