The Rower

There was a young rower with a pain in her back,
It felt like the time that her ankle went crack!
She ignored the pain so that no one would know,
The pain she was in when she tried to row.

She went to a nice man who said he could help,
The pain in her back that was making her yelp,
He said "Oh my! You may not row again!
You must stay in bed, but you may take a pen."

So she heeded his words and settled in,
She took up her pen and began to grin,
She wrote and she wrote through day and through night,
She write in the dark and she wrote in the light.

One day two weeks later out came a book,
About the rower's pain and what action she took,
She sold enough copies that money abounded,
So she had an operation so the pain disbanded.

One day she felt fine so she went off to row,
But she didn't feel the joy that she used to know.
She'd found her true calling as a writer, my friend,
And now the thought of rowing drives her round the bend!
