This week (June 1st ? 7th) is Volunteers’ Week and it is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary.

So what? Volunteering is for chumps right? Ha! I pity the fool who thinks volunteering is for chumps!

It all depends on how you approach it. If you go in thinking that you’re working and doing a job for no pay then you’re going to have a grim time.

If on the other hand you look at it as an opportunity, a chance to learn new skills, meet new people and generally help your fellow man then the experience can be incredibly rewarding.

It also looks sweet on your CV.

So have a little think about what you would like to do, how much time you can spare and what experience you can bring to it.

Fancy being a doctor one day? Why not try the St John Ambulance?? Love animals? Try a stint at Cats Protection. Interested in the arts? How about being an Art Gallery Assistant at g39? This is just a small example of loads of different volunteering opportunities out there.?

So why not check out the Volunteering Wales' website, and see what’s happening. Or pop along on and visit Cardiff’s very own Volunteer Community Service on St. Mary’s Street.??

You never know it could be you next year at Cardiff Castle picking up an award at the Wales Volunteer of the Year Awards.?

Got something to say?
