  • What Matters

This week is a huge week for the future of our city. It is a chance for you to express your views in person to the relevant people in the council and shape the future of services and indeed Cardiff as a whole over the next ten years.

If you’ve ever felt that the powers that be aren’t listening to you, then this is your opportunity to grab the microphone. The process has already started and the council has drawn up a set of goals it wants to achieve. Run the rule over the full document here (it’s a .pdf document), or if I were you, I’d go for the summary (again a .pdf) but if you’re looking for stuff that specifically concerns young people, then have a look at our Young People's Views article and follow the links from there.

If all this sounds familiar then you’re right, we’ve had stuff about What Matters on the site recently, but as of today the consultation sessions start. First up is Cardiff West with a session in Ysgol Gyfun Plasmwar and it will tour around the city before finishing in Llanederyn High School next Thursday. Click here for full details of where and when it will go.

And you don’t have to agree with what’s in the paper and go along and talk policy, you can raise the issues that affect you and feel aren’t being addressed. Or you could congregate in large square for a couple of weeks and tape plastic bottles to your head. I’d advise the popping along to one of the meetings first though. If going outdoors isn’t your thing, then you can fill in a survey any time this week (closes Friday March 4th).
