Barnardo's Cymru Community Links
We provide two main types of service for children and young people with a learning disability:
The Leisure Service links a young person with a Sessional Worker or Volunteer Befriender to either take them out on activities or to look after them at home to enable their families to go out. An average of 3 hours per week is available, and times are planned between the young person and their Worker/Volunteer.
The Link Carer Service provides overnight short breaks to young people, usually around one weekend a month. Carers are assessed as foster carers, and are carefully matched with a young person to help them enjoy a range of community activities and to extend their social networks.
