Here you will find answers to common questions about submitting your items and using 'the Sprout'.

  1. How to submit news

In order to submit your news story you need to register with theSprout.

Submitting your news to our editorial group is really easy and straightforward. All it takes is a few moments.

Be sure to read through the terms and conditions before clicking submit.

Once submitted you will recieve a confirmation email letting you know we've recieved your news.

Our youth editorial team will look at it, and if appropriate add it to the site.

  2. What is a feature and who picks it

    Feature story (+/- 1500 words)

A news feature is usually selected by our editorial group from news items that users submit, but we are always open to ideas and encourage you to pitch them to us.

To ensure a good chance of having your feature selected remember that a feature explores an issue. News features are less time-sensitive but no less newsworthy. They can be an effective way to write about complex issues. Features are full of interesting people, ideas, action and energy.

An interview-based feature is also something to consider, as words and quotes from someone interesting always makes for a good article.

  6. How to submit a one-off or regular event

If you wish to submit an event, you need to select the type.
By specifying (ONE-OFF EVENT (1 DAY) / ONE-OFF EVENT (OVER MULTIPLE DAYS) / REGULAR EVENT) you automatically help yourself to submit event by avoiding extra steps.

  7. What's the difference between submitting one-off and regular event

If the event you are organising is one-off event, spread over a number of days (e.g. an exhibition at an art gallery or comedy festival)) or occurs on a regular basis (e.g. weekly or monthly) it is in your interest to specify this, as the system will automatically remember it and appear in the event calendar next time without you having to come back and submit it again.

  8. What is a theme

A theme is your personalised background that you can choose from 'themes' and will appear everytime you come to theSprout until you change it again.
