Ogfest - In The CIA?
Submitted by stellarspontaneous on 18th July 2008
The CIA is normally reserved for huge acts – Jay-Z played there recently and other rock bands like Incubus and Kaiser Chiefs are regular attractions. Now there is a chance for smaller bands in Wales to play at this prestigious (and huge!) venue.
Ogfest 2008 was originally going to be held in Ogmore, but due to local complaints the open-air festival was cancelled. The festival is in aid of the charity Ty Hafan, where all proceeds will go.
The event’s organisers say “This is the chance for the music community to stand up, be counted and help plant the seeds which could grow into something truly awesome for music in south Wales. One big effort from everyone for this event would be a massive step towards the prosperity of local live music. So please everyone, make a big effort to catch some awesome bands, for a great price and a great cause!”
Fantastic young Welsh bands such as theSprout's Battle Of The Bands finalists Evil I and the very popular music video-sporting metal band, Dead End. The rest of the line-up includes some other rising Welsh bands, and it will be a great chance to hear new music.
The event will last from 12pm to 10pm and costs only £10 - that’s £1 an hour for a huge number of bands. The 10-hour event will be held on Sun 27 July, and you can buy tickets now. Check out their website HERE and MySpace page HERE for more information.
