Micah P Hinson @ Clwb
Submitted by Dim Parcio on 21st July 2008
Gravelly-voiced Texan singer-songwriter Micah P Hinson rocks up to Clwb Ifor Bach on Tue 2 Sept for his first appearance in Wales. That is assuming Hinson makes it through immigration, as his well documented troubled teenage years of prescription drug addiction and jail time might mean he gets the Snoop Dogg treatment. But then again Snoop Dogg might have got the Snoop Dogg treatment because he’s Snoop Dogg, which is understandable.
Anyway, Hinson often floats between Americana, new folk, country and psychedelica – beloved of Q, 6music and Radcliffe & Maconnie – and he continues mining this vein on the new album Micah P. Hinson And The Red Empire Orchestra (Sketchbook) which this tour is in support of.
Previous shows have seen Hinson strip away the music down to just his impressive voice and acoustic guitar, but this tour will be bringing the bombast of a full backing band with strings aplenty. So, if that floats your boat then tickets are £9.50 (plus booking fee) from the usual outlets.
